As previously reported, the Hunarmand Association won a grant for the “Ikat Connection” project in the ALIPH-EU Central Asia Call for Projects.
The project, implemented by the Association, aims to safeguard, revive, and ensure the sustainable development of traditional ikat craftsmanship in Central Asia while harmonizing it with contemporary promotion and creative industry practices.
Within the framework of the “Ikat Connection” project, the following activities are planned:
study of historical sources and museum collections;
strengthening cooperation between master artisans and researchers;
documentation of traditional ikat weaving methods;
transmission of knowledge and practical skills to the younger generation.
At present, organizational procedures have commenced, and negotiations with international partners are underway. Specialists are being engaged, and mechanisms for effective collaboration are being developed.
The project is designed not only to preserve cultural heritage, but also to integrate it into current economic and creative processes.
Updates on implementation progress will be provided regularly.
